Please co-operate!

Some phrases have become so much a part of our life that nobody thinks them odd or out of place anymore. Here are a few that sometimes amuse and sometimes generate murderous tendencies in me-

1st prize - 'Please co-operate'!

This must be the most maligned phrase of our times, atleast in labs. Here is a typical notice for booking a common instrument (for which 10 people are breathing down each other's necks at any typical time)- 'The hood will be booked from 9 am to 5 pm, please co-operate'..nice try..

2nd- 'Paradigm shift'-

Someone please tell me what this means..

3rd- 'Chemistry' or 'Vibes'-

Someone actually told me once that maybe i didnt have 'good vibes with my labspace' which is probably why the lysate was contaminated!! Not that i m ignoring any possibilities, anyone in possession of vibe-restoring charms please pass them on!

4th- 'stay in the loop'

For some reason, this reminds me of those fancy hotel revolving doors that i m always nervous of!!

5th- 'They don't gel' (Maybe you should increase the agarose concentration..)

6th- 'Its all in the game' (which one? i m good at kho kho and bad at volleyball..)

After some days with an overdose of these ( a simple way to get it these days is to watch any newschannel for about 15 minutes) I was delighted to hear someone say 'Kindly adjust'('kindly', of course, gives it an added charm :) at Canara bank, it totally made my day. Its another matter that the consequence was that I had to go back another day, having misguidedly allowed sentiment to take over and let in a perfectly healthy looking young girl before me. but that's no big deal, its all in the game..

Hahahahaha! I can see that healthy mix of amusement and murderous tendencies that will go through your facial expressions at hearing these Laas! Fortunately, I need to say, SAME PINCH! :D

hehe. Nice. Ok my attempt at explaining paradigm shift: Ade ree nodi heng aaithu nene varegu malleshwaram circle nalli gida maragalu ithu eega bari roadu roadu. Nam makalge gida mara andhre yenu antha gothiralla. That is a paradigm shift. When something changes in such a way that the way you look at it has to undergo a change as nobody else will view it the way you knew it looked.

I hope you understand this if not stay in the loop it is all in the game it is not that we don't gel you are yet to feel the vibes of this paradigm shift. Please co-operate. :)

Hahaha...SO true!!! Loved each of them! Now that you brought this up, I can think of one particular acronym: * 'LOL' ( I don't think anybody really 'lol's at THAT intensity at the phrases they use this acronym for!) :-)

@pritz- he he..same to you :)

@Rafiki- ah. very nice example :) but is that what paradigm shift means? then i certainly didnt know! thanks :)i refuse to shift my paradigms with respect to circles in bangalore though, i like them green and big and, critically, with real circles there!!

@Ddey- thanks a ton!! i should ve included 'lol', i never get it myself!! :)exactly, hard to believe people are laughing out loud in capitals for every second thing..maybe we should start superscript and subscript 'lol's ;)

Ha ha ha! These phrases have become so common! Maybe they are building blocks of a new subset of English! In the future, they might become so commonplace that people might not even bother to know what they really mean :) I have one to add
'Let's take a call soon!' This s/w phrase has also become so common!
